Investing

Investing today comes in all shapes and sizes. You could invest in the stock market, using stocks, bonds, options, and futures as investment tools. You could invest in real estate, buying a second home and renting it, purchasing a store or commercial building and leasing it out to vendors. But investing in something, paper or otherwise, takes knowledge and the skill to venture into this field.

Richard Kiyosaki, of Rich Dad/Poor Dad fame, got me started in investing. It wasn't so much about what he was investing in, it was the process by which investing takes place. He encouraged taking a class, or attending a seminar to acquire the skills and knowledge about investing. I took a class in Options trading, attended two more free sessions, and now have a keen understanding about what's involved in options trading. In fact, I made some money in options trading. A year ago, I had no idea what options was about.

There are many avenues from which to begin, right here through WildAhiNet. TheStreet.com is a start along with Investor's Business Daily. I wouldn't try to get much out of the talking heads you might see on MSNBC. By the time you hear it, it's old news.

So, take the time, go slowly, and most of all, be patient. Remember, Rome was not made in a day; you won't get rich in that way!
