Hearing Loss

While it is true that you can not see a hearing loss, it is nonetheless a serious health issue to those who suffer from it. Hearing loss affects our Senior population in greater numbers than it does our younger generation. But hearing loss is not confined to seniors only. Recent studies indicate that more and more younger people have some degree of hearing problem. The increase in numbers can be attributed to teh use of personal amplifiers such as iPods and CD players. These devices can cause permanent hearing damage when the volume is cranked up. There is no medical cure for the type of noise reduced hearing problem called "nerve type" hearing problem.

Keeping your iPods and CD players at a low volume level is a good idea. In areas where noise levels are at a constant high level, ear plugs should be worn. Remember, once your hearing is gone, it is gone....FOREVER!
